TubingI was intrigued by the premise of this book when I was offered it to review, so eagerly snapped it up. Tubing tells the story of Polly, a young woman living a seemingly perfect life with her boyfriend in London. However, she’s actually bored out of her mind, so when she has a “moment” with a stranger on the Underground, she’s intrigued and quickly becomes obsessed with him and the potential erotic excitement he’s offering. She’s then drawn into the dark and dangerous world of “Tubing” – meeting strangers on the Tube for liaisons of varying kinds.

I found this a gripping read – there was something about the writing style and plot that really drew me in, which speaks volumes since I wasn’t keen on any of the characters. It’s a darkly erotic page turner, for definite, but it’s not perfect. I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say that I was distracted by a bit of a plot hole as the book went on, a loose end that wasn’t tied up, and also that I was a little disappointed by the ending. Maybe because the book was so gripping, the ending had a lot to live up to and didn’t quite make it. Having said that, if you like darkly erotic, dangerous thrillers, then it’s worth checking this one out, and I would definitely read further books from this author.
