VoyageursApparently I’ve been on a bit of a Keira Andrews kick lately. Voyageurs is an historical gay romance, set in Canada. I loved that this was something a bit different once again.

Set in 1793, this novella tells the story of Simon Cavendish, a young man who must get to his new station at an outpost in the Canadian wilderness. He’s running late and has missed the main opportunities for transport, but there is one man who’s willing to take him on this canoe journey so late in the summer. Christian Smith needs the money desperately, so although he doesn’t think much of the man he’s going to be stuck with for weeks on end, he takes on the task.

Being thrown together, alone, travelling seemingly endless lakes and rivers on their expedition, attraction starts to blossom between the two men. But their backgrounds are so different that, if they give in to their desire, could they ever have a life together anyway?

This is yet another intriguing and unique story from Andrews. The characters in this tale were particularly intriguing, with their deep motivations and such different personalities. The setting made for an incredibly tense tale at times, which only made the sexy and romantic scenes all the more touching. I found this to be another gripping, well-written gay romance read, and one I’d recommend if you enjoy historicals – but with a difference.
